Polson's latest book The Crafty Witch is a guide that follows up on her well loved Witch Crafts. In this
substantial guide you'll find craft ideas to mark the Sabbats, for your altar, clothing/embroidery, jewelry making and more!
Most craft ideas come with instructions and a black and white picture. Several finished items are included within a color insert in the middle of the book. Many of the crafts feel advanced, but with Polson's instructions, the reader feels that he/she can accomplish the task. One downside is that you will need to invest a bit of money into the supplies.
Some of my favorite crafts that Polson designed are the "embossed copper foil pentacle,” "embellished devotional shelf" and the amazing "stumpwork lord of the woods." The author's style is friendly and informative. She writes on the beginning of chapter three, "Okay, you win . . . I hear the (numerous!)
complains that there were no yarn crafts in the previous book, so I made sure to include this chapter to get myself out of trouble!" It made me laugh.
The Crafty Witch may not be for everyone but it can stimulate your own ideas. Additionally, it is important to remember that creating these crafts are in themselves a spiritual practice.
